Each time we go to a petrol pump we have doubts if the petrol pump attendants are cheating us. I personally have experienced it, once I got my Royal Enfield fueled up by Rs 300 but the engine stopped before 6 kilometers from the petrol pump. That raised doubt in my head and I used the help of internet to find the possible ways the petrol pump attendants cheat us. So, today I will like to tell you about the possible ways.

1. Long Fuel Pipe

You may have seen it in most of the petrol pump. You might have thought that they keep the fuel pipe so that they can reach the distant vehicles but it is not the case. The meter starts ticking since the moment the petrol starts flowing from the machine if there is a long pipe it means the meter crosses significant amount of reading before the petrol reaches the fuel tank of your vehicle. Moreover, they store the fuel in the pipes.

2. Impure Petrol

via

You may have never heard of this term. It is the term that is used when impurities are mixed in petrol. A lot of the petrol pumps mix a chemical named Naphtha with petrol this actually means that you are buying the mixture, not the pure petrol.

3. Double Checking The Meter

if you are buying petrol for more than Rs 1000, the petrol pump guy does this trick. First, he fills the fuel worth Rs 300 and then he rechecks the meter and adds the amount 700. But he never resets the meter before putting the new amount. This means the readings continues from the amount where it stopped. In this case, the reading stopped at 300 and it will continue further,

4. Fault In The Meter

Most of the petrol pumps have the hacked meters. These meters start reading before the petrol starts flowing in the tube. Hence, they meters show the reading a bit early.

5. Petrol Pump Guy Sticks His Finger On The Nozzle
