Chennai send a new opening pair in the middle as Faf du Plessis and Shane Watson open the innings. Chennai lost a couple of quick wickets. Watson went for a well played 78 off just 40 balls with a strike rate of over 190. Ambati Rayudu scored 41 in 24 balls before he was run out.

The Delhi bowlers were under the pump throughout the innings as Chennai batsmen hit them all over the park, especially Watson, Rayudu and Dhoni. Their bowlers simply had no clue and it’s now up to their batters. The bowlers were hit for a massive total as they conceded 211 in 20 overs. Will their batsmen be able to save the bowlers’ blushes?

Delhi started off poorly as they lost the wicket of Shaw in the second over. Collin Munro hit a few massive blows for his quick cameo as he scored 26. Rishabh Pant played brilliantly to keep Delhi in the game but the asking rate just got out of their hands and in the end, it was just too much for Delhi to handle. Pant scored 79 in 45 balls hitting 7 fours and 4 sixes. Vijay Shankar gave the fans something to cheer about with his 50 in 34 at the end but Delhi fell short of the target by 13 runs.

Chennai’s Bowling

With a lot of runs in the bag, Chennai could experiment with their bowlers. The bowlers started off well getting the wicket of Shaw. The bowlers were in the match throughout as they kept getting wickets at regular wickets. It was the priced wicket of Pant that Ngidi that grabbed. Asif got a couple of wickets but he was very expensive in his first match. Ngidi bowled brilliantly to get a wicket at the same time he bowled economically as well as he gave away just 26 runs. Chennai goes on top with this win.

Man Of The Match

It was Shane Watson’s 78 that took Chennai to a massive total as they go on top in the points table.
