Viral Story: Man Orders Silver Coins On Swiggy, Gets Maggi And Snacks Instead

Ordering online has made our lives a lot easier. But sometimes, it may backfire, too. Vineeth K ordered silver coins from Swiggy Instamart. What he got was completely different: a bag of Maggi noodles and Haldiram snacks.

We’re all used to getting groceries and snacks delivered fast these days. Instant delivery apps make life easy. You can order almost anything without leaving home. Most times it works fine — click, pay, wait for delivery. But sometimes things go wrong.

What Actually Happened?

Vineeth called it a “Swiggy Horror Story” when he shared his experience online. Out of his entire order, only one pouch was sealed. The delivery person said it wouldn’t be opened and gave him two choices: take the whole order or cancel it.

After 40 minutes with customer support, Vineeth opened the sealed pouch. The silver coins were there, but there was another problem. The coins weren’t 999 purity as promised, they were 925 sterling silver instead.

The delivery partner took back the food packets. Vineeth told him to keep them if he couldn’t return them: “I didn’t order these, so I don’t want them,” he wrote.

People React Online

The post went viral with different opinions:

“Rule of thumb: If you order gold or silver online, don’t cry afterwards.”

Another person wrote, “Why on Earth would any sane person order a high-value item such as silver from an instant delivery app? Why? Are people this lazy or stupid or both?”

“You brought this upon yourself. Why would someone order silver coins from Swiggy?” another comment said.

Second Delivery Attempt

Vineeth posted an update later. Swiggy delivered a corrected order the second time. Most coins were 999 purity this time, but two were still 925.

“Except for two coins, everything else is 999,” he shared, tagging Swiggy Instamart again to fix the remaining problem.

How Swiggy Responded?

Swiggy replied on social media: “This is not what we wish for you, Vineeth. Please share the order ID so we can address this further.”

They added: “Thank you for bringing this to our attention and for providing the details, Vineeth. We would like to run a quick check. Please bear with us.”

What Does This Mean?

This incident shows that ordering expensive items through food delivery apps can be risky. While these apps work well for regular groceries and food, high-value items might need more careful handling.

The case also shows how social media helps customers get faster responses when things go wrong. Companies pay attention when posts go viral.

Should You Order Expensive Items Online?

Many people questioned Vineeth’s decision to order silver coins through a food delivery app. Fair point — these platforms are mainly designed for quick grocery and food delivery.

But as these apps expand their services, customers expect the same reliability for all products. Companies need to ensure their quality control works for everything they sell.
