The Indian Female Cricketers Are Being Paid Way Too Less As Compare To Male Cricketers

via

The movement of women empowerment is at its peak. However, still, women have to fight for their equal rights. The equal pay for women is a considerable issue. Recently, BCCI made their new list of contract for the cricketers. The new contract list shows the disparity between male and female cricketers. The amount the female cricketers are being paid is way too less than the amount being given to the male cricketers.

The new list of BCCI includes new contracts for 26 male and 19 female cricketers. 5 male cricketers including Virat Kohli are kept on the list of A+ cricketer. Moreover, there are 7 male cricketers who are kept in the A Grade. This seems quite unfair as the top grade of women’s division includes only 4 female cricketers.

Here is the complete list of female cricketers according to their grades.

1. Ms Mithali Raj

2. Ms Jhulan Goswami

3. Ms Harmanpreet Kaur

Gender Biasing In The Contracts

via

If we look at the amount that the cricketers are being paid, we can conclude that the female cricketers are given less amount per year. The A+ players in the Men’s category will be paid Rs 7 Crore per year. On the other hand, the A grade players in the Women’s division will be given Rs 50 Lakh per year. The amount is way too less if it is compared with the amount given to the male cricketers. Moreover, even the C Grade male cricketers will be given Rs 1 Crore per year.

The new contract list shows the gender bias. What is your thought on this?
