After the Pahalgam terror attack, on April 22, 2025, the Information and Broadcasting Ministry (I&B) exercised emergency powers of the Information Technology (IT) Rules to block 16 Pakistani YouTube news channels. The authorities blocked these platforms to prevent false information from spreading and protect vital interests such as national security, public order, and India’s international relationships. The I&B Ministry noticed that these channels disseminated false information about sensitive topics after the Pahalgam attack.

Intelligence reports confirmed that Pakistani YouTube channels became part of an organized disinformation offensive that specifically attacked India. The action is taken as per the recommendations from the Ministry of Home Affairs. These news outlets spread deceptive reports about the Indian Army along with fabricated information about Kashmir and Indian diplomatic connections to weaken India’s national autonomy. The channels have a total of 63 million subscribers.

Heavy firing by Pakistani troops in the Jammu and Kashmir districts of Poonch and Kupwara persisted along the LoC, according to reports provided by Army officials on Monday. Also, many sports channels from Pakistan are blocked. The list includes that of former Pakistan cricketers in Shoaib Akhtar, Tanveer Ahmed, Rashid Latif, and Basit Ali. Also, the popular content creators, Wasay Habib, Rizwan Haider, Aap Ka Mohsin Ali, Muneeb Farooq, and Uzair Cricket accounts are blocked. The list also includes BBN Sports and Samaa Sports.
For the fourth straight night, Pakistan targeted the LoC through small-arms fire while India and Pakistan maintained tense relations after the Pahalgam terror attack last week.
The defence spokesperson said,
“During the night of April 27-28, Pakistan Army posts initiated unprovoked small arms fire across the LoC in areas opposite Kupwara and Poonch districts.”
Indian troops were not behind and responded effectively.
