Six Essential Items Every Guest Should Bring To A Wedding

via

Everyone likes a wedding. You know there will be music, food and beverages, and dancing, but is there anything else you should bring? To ensure that you are not left unprepared and miserable at the wedding and reception, there are a few essential items everyone needs to have readily available.

1. Cell Phone

While you want to remember to use the wedding etiquette for cell phone use during both the reception and wedding ceremony, your cell phone is definitely an item you need at the wedding. It is important for both finding the location of the wedding and texting to see if your friends have arrived yet. You will also undoubtedly have a time when you want to capture a moment by taking a picture or two. However, bringing an actual camera is frowned upon. Let’s face it, it’s a bulky item, so you’d have a difficult time keeping up with it. Also, the couple has more than likely hired a professional photographer, so using your camera may hinder him from doing his job.

2. Cash

You may not think you would need money at a wedding because everything should be paid for. But there are often cash bars set up in the reception area, so you would definitely be sorry if you didn’t have cash on hand. Also, there are times when you may have to use a shuttle or find some other means of transportation to get to the reception.

3. ID

For the same reason you would carry money, always carry your identification for the cash bar. Bartenders are sometimes strict at wedding receptions and will always ask everyone to see an ID. You may be 51 and they will still ask, but take it as a compliment and carry on.

4. A Wedding Gift

When it comes to gifts to take to a wedding, always think small. There will usually be a gift table with a basket or box set up for gifts. Cards with money or gifts cards inside are usually put in the basket, while small, personalized gifts are placed around the basket. If you are thinking of bringing a large gift to a wedding, please reconsider. Large gifts are just cumbersome for the couple to transport from the wedding reception. Instead, the ship the larger gifts to their home either before or after the wedding.

5. Comfortable Shoes

While those stylish stilettos may look great with your dress, they are not always so comfortable after a few dances. Always make sure you have a stylish pair of flats with you so you can continue dancing the night away and won’t need multiple band-aids by the end of the evening.

6. Breath Freshener

After eating at the reception, you are going to need a breath mint or gum to chase that bad breath away. You never know when you will meet Mr. or Ms. Right at a wedding reception, and it just wouldn’t do to have garlic and onions on your breath.
