Amul And Mother Dairy Reduce Prices

From today, September 22, 2025, the Goods and Services Tax (GST) on milk and dairy products has been removed, following a decision taken during the 56th GST Council meeting on September 3. The government aimed to make dairy products more affordable for families.
Both companies have confirmed that they will pass the tax savings directly to customers, rather than retaining them as extra profit.

Amul announced a price cut on over 700 products. GCMMF said,
“This revision is across the range of product categories like butter, ghee, milk, ice cream, cheese, paneer, chocolates, bakery range, frozen dairy and potato snacks, condensed milk, peanut spread, malt-based drinks, etc.”
Amul has already taken the initiative to communicate changes in the price to its partners, including distributors, Amul parlours, and retailers across India.
Mother Dairy Joins In
Mother Dairy followed with its own price cut. The government’s move to remove or lower GST on packaged milk and dairy products aims to make essentials more affordable for households across India. Brands have confirmed that the benefit of reduced GST will be passed on directly to consumers.
