India Goes Digital, A Unique Cashless Wedding Took Place In Jamshedpur

The dream of our Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Digital India’ is becoming true.

This unique wedding ceremony in Jamshedpur is an example for it.

The whole marriage ceremony was performed in a cashless manner at a temple at Badia in East Singhbhum district.

Just before the marriage was solemnized, the parents of the groom Subhash Nayak from Badia village and bride Sunita from Itihasa village built a toilet at the groom’s house.

The man behind this idea is Sanjay Kumar; Deputy Collector in the Chief Minister’s camp office. He convinced both the families to make use of digital payments wherever possible.

Mr Kumar said that payments for rent of the tent house, the priest’s donation and purchase of other necessary items like vegetables, groceries and jewellery everything were done without using any cash.

A joint account of the couple was also instantly opened during the wedding and an ATM card was handed over to them soon after the wedding ceremony, Mr Kumar said.

This cashless wedding ceremony was first-of-its-kind in the state after the government’s demonetization move.

One great thing about this wedding is, it was dowry free.
