Rishabh Pant is returning to cricket after a devastating accident. The BCCI has declared him fit as a wicketkeeper batter for the IPL 2024. He will mostly lead the Delhi Capitals team. After a strenuous 14-month recovery, the BCCI gave Rishabh Pant the green light to join the IPL. Delhi Capitals’ captain Rishabh Pant has returned to action since narrowly escaping a fatal accident on December 30, 2022. The upcoming IPL sees Pant’s comeback after a challenging period, adding a positive turn to his remarkable journey.

Rishabh Pant 14-Month Rehabilitation Journey

“Following a life-threatening road accident on December 30, 2022, near Roorkee, Uttarakhand, Rishabh Pant has now been declared fit as a wicketkeeper batter for the upcoming IPL 2024,” the BCCI stated in a statement. Pant had undergone an extensive 14-month rehab and recuperation process. Pant had three ligament surgeries on his right leg after the vehicle accident, and then he began rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA).

The Delhi Capitals will benefit greatly from Pant’s return in advance of the next tournament, which begins on March 22 later this month. IPL 2023 was missed by Pant because of an injury. If fit, Pant will lead the Delhi Capitals, according to head coach Ricky Ponting’s previous statement.

Rishabh Pant Return Ahead Of IPL 2024

Even with the BCCI’s approval, there are still questions about whether the 25-year-old will retain wickets. Pant’s potential dual role as a hitter and wicketkeeper adds an intriguing dimension to his IPL 2024 campaign. The BCCI’s consideration for Pant’s participation in the T20 World Cup 2024 hinges on his ability to handle the responsibilities behind the stumps. Ponting’s direct involvement in practice matches underlines his hands-on approach to team development and Pant’s recovery process. In one of the games, he fielded and maintained wickets. He doesn’t seem to have had any problems batting thus far.
