After actress Anjali Raghav shocked fans by announcing her intention to retire from acting and accused superstar Pawan Singh of inappropriate behavior during a promotional event, the Bhojpuri film industry has been shaken by scandal.
Pawan Singh was compelled to express a sincere apology after a widely shared video allegedly showed him touching Anjali Raghav against her will. However, is this apology sufficient to rebuild his reputation, or has the incident permanently changed the industry?
What Was The Incident?
The incident happened in Lucknow during the promotion of Saiya Seva Kare, a song by Pawan and Anjali. Speaking further on the matter, Anjali expressed her disapproval of girls being touched in such a way without their consent.
She added that if the same thing had happened in Haryana, the actor would have been criticized by the public without her having to say a word. She didn’t receive any public backing though because the incident took place in Lucknow. She also disclosed that she wasn’t interested in a career in the Bhojpuri industry.
Anjali Raghav had previously expressed on her Instagram account how deeply affected she was by the incident. The actress said that during the past two days she had been in a lot of pain. She wondered if people believed she enjoyed such public physical contact.
She said that after asking her teammates if there was anything attached to her waist, as Pawan had earlier mentioned, she found that there wasn’t. Anjali said that she felt terrible and wanted to cry because she was so upset. Anjali said that people were referring to Pawan as “God.”
Pawan repeatedly grabbed Anjali’s waist during a recent event in Lucknow, claiming that something was stuck to it. Despite Anjali’s obvious discomfort, Pawan chose to ignore her.
Pawan Singh Apologize To Anjali Raghav
Pawan now claimed that he had no “wrong intention” toward Anjali on his Instagram Stories. He wrote,
“Anjali ji, vyasth schedule ke kaaran main aapka live dekh nahi paaya,” he wrote in his brief statement. “Mujhe jab iss baat ki jaankari huyi, toh mujhe bura laga, kyuki hum log kalakaar hai aur ghalat purpose nahi tha mera aapke prati. Iske bawajood, agar aapko humari kisi bhi byawahaar se taqleef huyi ho toh uske liye main shama prarthi hoon.”
“Anjali, due to my busy schedule, I couldn’t watch your live. When I came to know about the matter, I felt very bad. I had no wrong intention towards you as we are artists. Even then, if you were hurt by my behaviour, then I apologise.”
Anjali Raghav Responses To Pawan Singh Apologies
Later, Anjali shared her response to Pawan Singh’s apology on social media, stating that she had forgiven and accepted it.
“Apni galti ki maafi mangli hai Pawan Singh ji ne aur aap senior artist hai aur mujhse bade hai. Maaf kar diya hai maine unhe. Main is baat ko aur aage nahi badhana chahti. Jai Shree Ram.”
Famous for her Haryanvi music videos, the actress had previously expressed her profound sadness over the incident and even declared she would no longer be appearing in Bhojpuri films. She disclosed in her Instagram stories that she had received a ton of questions and criticism, with some even making fun of her responses in memes.
