Fans expected the typical chants of “Ganpati Bappa Morya!” when one of television’s most beloved celebrities, Aly Goni, visited a Ganesh Chaturthi celebration. Rather, the actor’s silence set off a wave of internet trolling. Aly is now correcting the record by stating that his decision was made out of loyalty to his beliefs rather than out of dislike. His frank response has sparked new discussions about respect, religious limits, and hate speech online.
Aly Goni On Not Chanting ‘Ganpati Bappa Morya’

Aly has finally spoken out about the issue and made it clear that he didn’t mean to offend or insult religious feelings. “I didn’t even realize it,” the actor stated in an interview with Filmygyan. “I was deep in thought, and I never thought something like this could cause such a significant problem.”
He added that he had never been to a Ganpati puja ceremony before. “This was my first time attending Ganpati celebrations,” Goni remarked. “Normally, I don’t go. I was unsure of my specific responsibilities there, and I still believe that I shouldn’t do anything improper while everyone is worshiping. I am quite random. Sometimes I say anything, I will do anything.”
“It’s not allowed in my religion, hum pooja nahi karte hai,” Aly added, emphasizing that he respects all religions. “Even if we don’t typically perform puja, we respect other religions, pray, and offer namaz because we share a single belief. I agree with the Quran’s teaching that we should respect everyone.”

During Ganeshotsav, Aly Goni and Jasmin Bhasin went to a Ganpati puja at Ankita Lokhande’s house, while two of the celebration’s videos went viral online.
On X (previously Twitter), a user posted the video along with the comment: “Jasmin is asking Aly Goni to chant with them, but he is not doing so.”
The response on the Internet was split. Some defended Aly, while others criticized him. A supporter remarked, “Secularism doesn’t mean he has to chant. Secularism is having respect and cohabitation with people of different faiths.”
The Interfaith Friendship Between Aly And Jasmin

Trolls have used Aly and Jasmin’s interfaith love as fodder. The actress stated in a prior interview with the Indian Express, “The relationship is between the two of us. We have an understanding; we have had these conversations. We’ve found common ground and accepted one another for who we are. Since we are divided, no one’s viewpoint matters. However, shame on those who express unfavorable views that could harm our relationship.”
“The world needs love and positivity,” she continued. “Others can keep their foolish thoughts to themselves. If two people are happy and if they are that smart, they should concentrate on organizing their own life. We’ll work it out. This is our life.”
