Balancing college studies with a part-time job is not always easy, but a law student has found a way to earn money while pursuing his degree. Kaval Desai recently worked as a delivery partner for Blinkit and shared how much he earned during his first shift.
Desai, who is pursuing an LLB degree, said he took up the gig to cover his personal expenses. After spending around six and a half hours delivering orders on his scooter, he earned Rs 508, including incentives and a bonus. His post has attracted attention online, with users discussing the opportunities and challenges of gig work for students.
LLB Student Completes 19 Deliveries In Six-And-A-Half Hours
This is a part time gig I am doing for some obvious reasons. I’m pursing LLB as my primary profession. Along side working to support some obvious expenses incurred.
Day 1 ended on a good note.
Ended up delivering 19 orders in ~ 6:30 hours.
Did around ~51 kms just for the order delivery (return kms not counted).
Earned : ₹508 (₹75 incentive included) and ₹100 as bonus for achieving target.
Cost – ₹0 (I own Ather EV and charging costed me ₹0 home charging still 0)
Had to end the gig due to commitment to studies and at the same time battery was about to die.
@letsblinkit @deepigoyal @albinder You guys really made Blinkit a boon for people like me. It’s just so efficient to work with it and it’s smooth too.

Desai started working as a Blinkit delivery partner on Tuesday, October 13. He said the job was a part-time arrangement that allowed him to earn money without giving up his studies. In his post, he explained that his primary focus remained his law degree. The delivery work was intended to help him manage expenses alongside his education.
“This is a part-time gig I am doing for some obvious reasons. I’m pursuing LLB as my primary profession. Alongside working to support some obvious expenses incurred,” said Desai. During his first shift, he completed 19 deliveries over approximately six and a half hours. He travelled around 51 kilometres while delivering orders, excluding the distance covered on his return journeys.
Sharing the details of his first day, Desai wrote, “Day 1 ended on a good note. Ended up delivering 19 orders in approximately 6:30 hours. Did around 51 kms just for the order delivery (return kms not counted). Earned: Rs 508 (Rs 75 incentive included) and Rs 100 as bonus for achieving target.” His earnings included Rs 75 in incentives and a Rs 100 bonus for meeting the delivery target.
How Much Did He Earn From His First Blinkit Shift?
Desai reported total earnings of Rs 508 for his first day. He also explained why his expenses were limited during the shift. The student owns an electric scooter and charged it at home. According to him, this meant he did not incur any charging expenses during the delivery session.
However, his reported earnings should be viewed in the context of his individual circumstances. Delivery income can vary depending on the number of orders, incentives, working hours and expenses associated with the vehicle. His experience does not necessarily represent what every Blinkit delivery partner can expect to earn. Desai eventually ended his shift because he had to return to his studies. His scooter’s battery was also running low.
“Had to end the gig due to commitment to studies and at the same time battery was about to die,” he said.
He described such gigs as a useful option for people like him who want to earn money while managing other commitments.
Student Says He Enjoyed Working As A Delivery Partner
For Desai, the experience was not only about earning money. He said he enjoyed travelling around, making the delivery work a good fit for his interests. The flexibility of part-time work can appeal to students who need an additional source of income but cannot commit to a conventional full-time job. However, balancing deliveries with classes, assignments and examinations can require careful planning.
In Desai’s case, he stopped after his first shift to prioritise his studies. His experience illustrates how some students are exploring gig work as a way to manage personal expenses while continuing their education.
Social Media Users React To His Experience
Desai’s post received encouraging responses from social media users. Several praised his decision to earn money alongside his studies, while others reminded him to prioritise road safety. One user commented, “Drive safe and more power to you bro.”
Another highlighted the importance of insurance while working on the road. “Have a safe ride. Don’t forget to keep an active comprehensive insurance plan on your vehicle and health insurance for unexpected incidents, as your job is risky.”
A third user supported the idea of students taking up part-time gigs. “This is the kind of change India needs. Students can take up gigs like these while pursuing their education, gaining real-world experience and earning on the side.”
Can Gig Work Help Students Manage Their Expenses?
Desai’s first-day experience has brought attention to an option some students consider when looking for flexible ways to earn money. Delivery platforms can offer opportunities to work around personal schedules, although the actual income and workload may differ from one person to another.
For Desai, the immediate goal was to cover his expenses without compromising his LLB studies. His first shift earned him Rs 508, but he also had to manage travel, battery life and his study commitments. His experience shows how students are exploring different ways to support themselves while pursuing their education. Whether such work proves worthwhile depends on individual circumstances, including earnings, costs, safety and the time available for studies.
