A 22-year-old techie has shared his difficult experience after losing his Rs 95,000-per-month IT job just six months into his career. In a social media post, he claimed that his parents began taunting him and calling him a ‘freeloader’ after he remained unemployed for two months.

The young man said he had not built up savings before losing his job and was now struggling to find another opportunity. He also described an incident at home that left him deeply hurt, prompting him to reflect on financial independence and the importance of saving money. His account has drawn responses from social media users, including some who shared similar experiences of facing family pressure after losing their jobs.

According to his post, the techie graduated from a Tier 3 college and secured an IT job with a monthly salary of around Rs 95,000. However, he was laid off after working for just six months. He said he had been without an income for two months and claimed that his parents’ behaviour towards him had changed during this period.

“I, 22(M), graduated with a job in IT and got laid off after 6 months. Salary was good, about 95k, as I’m from a T3 college. I am not making a penny for 2 months, they’ve been treating me like I am a burden to them, went through taunts and name-calling as “freeloader” for the past month,” the techie wrote.

The young man also described a distressing incident in which, according to him, his parents took food away from his plate and questioned his usefulness.

“The worst happened when they took food from my plate and said what’s your use, shayad galti hi kardi terko paida karke (Maybe we made a mistake by giving birth to you),” he added.

His account highlights the emotional strain he says he has experienced while trying to cope with unemployment. The allegations about his family’s behaviour are based on his social media post and have not been independently verified.

He Is Looking For A Night Guard Job While Preparing For Interviews

Despite the setback, the techie said he was trying to find work while continuing to prepare for IT interviews. He revealed that he was considering a night guard job so he could earn money without giving up his efforts to return to the technology sector. However, he said he had not been successful in finding an opportunity so far.

The young man also admitted that he had not saved much from his previous salary. Instead, he had purchased a bike using his own money, paying the full amount rather than buying it through monthly instalments. Reflecting on his situation, he said the experience had changed how he viewed financial security and relationships.

“I didn’t really save any money as I purchased the bike from my own money on cash, no emi nothing. Now I know that a person has to pay rent for living It doesn’t matter if it’s money or it’s your mental health. Learned the hard way that no one’s truly yours, not even your parents,” he said.

He also urged other young earners to build savings before spending heavily on their dream purchases. “Live your life for yourself and don’t make the same mistake I did. Before getting your dream bike or car have some savings with you so that can support you in your hard times.”

Social Media Users Share Support And Similar Experiences

The techie’s post prompted several users to express sympathy and encourage him to keep looking for work. One user advised him to continue applying for jobs while focusing on his well-being.

“All I can say is don’t give up, keep trying to get a job, and on the side, learn to love yourself and let your happiness/stability be independent of anyone else.” Another user offered encouragement and suggested that he work towards becoming financially independent.

“This is so sad to hear. Hugs to you in these unbearable times. I can only tell you to devote yourself fully and crack an interview. Try to move out. Parents should motivate their children and support them in their low phase.”

A third person said they had experienced similar treatment after losing their own job. “True bhai, no one cares if you don’t provide money. Got laid off 6 months back and no one in my family talks to me nicely now.” The responses suggest that the techie’s account resonated with others who have faced unemployment and strained family relationships.

The Importance Of Financial Security After A Job Loss

The 22-year-old’s experience brings attention to a practical concern for young professionals: how to manage expenses when a regular salary suddenly stops. An emergency fund can help cover essential costs while someone searches for another job. Without savings, even a short period of unemployment can create financial pressure, particularly for those who have recently started earning.

For now, the techie says he is still trying to find work and prepare for interviews. His post has also opened up a discussion about how young people navigate career setbacks and the need for financial preparation before making major purchases.
