Superstar Of The Millennium award in 2000, First actor to receive Lifetime Achievement Award in 1991 to name a few. He worked on more than 200 movies. Most of them are blockbusters and Superhit. He is known as Shahenshah of Bollywood and people also know him by name Big B.

1. Zanjeer (1973)
Zanjeer is the movie which changed the trend of Indian Cinema from Romantic to Action. Film was Superhit in Box Office and started a new wave in Hindi Cinema. Amitabh Bachchan played a role of Inspector Vijay Khanna and since appeared in several movies with the same character name. After this movie, Amitabh was known as ‘The Angry Young Man‘.
2. Deewaar (1975)
Yash Chopra’s Deewaar was another Superhit movie of Amitabh Bachchan career. Deewaar received Filmfare Best Movie Award of 1975 and 4th Highest grossing Bollywood film of 1975. 3. Sholay (1975)
Who don’t know about this Film ? Directed by Ramesh Sippy, Sholay declared as the Film of the Millennium by BBC in 1999. Amitabh and Dharmendra played role of Jai and Veeru. Dialogues, Songs and Characters of this movie is still very popular. Certain scenes and dialogues from the film earned iconic status in India, such as “Kitne aadmi the” (How many men were there?), “Jo dar gaya, samjho mar gaya” (One who is scared is dead), and “Bahut yaarana laagta hai” (Looks like you two are very close) – all dialogues of Gabbar Singh played by Late Amjad Khan. Sholay is considered to be one of the greatest Indian films of all time.
4. Don (1978)
Don was the third-highest grossing Bollywood movie of 1978, and was classified a golden jubilee by Box Office India. Amitabh played dual role of Don and Vijay in this movie. Amitabh received Filmfare Award for the Best Actor for Don.
5. Laawaris (1981)
All time Highest earner of 1981, Laawaris became known for its famous song ‘Mere Angne Main Tumhara Kya Kaam Hai’. The story revolves around an orphan who stumbles over reality in search for his parents. The film is remembered for Amitabh Bachchan over-the-top acting and fiery dialogues using his all famous Bachchan-baritone, his charismatic and stylish screen presence.
6. Coolie (1983)
Coolie is notorious for a fight scene with co-star Puneet Issar, during which Amitabh Bachchan was near-fatally injured due to a mistimed jump. The film made over Rs 10 million per territory, a rare achievement for the time. The film became famous even before its release when Amitabh Bachchan was critically injured on 26 July 1982 in the intestines while filming a fight scene with co-star Puneet Issar at the Bangalore University campus, which almost cost him his life.
7. Agneepath (1990)
One of the most famous movie of Amitabh’s career is Agneepath. The title was taken from a poem of the same name called ‘Agneepath’ which was penned by Amitabh Bachchan father Harivansh Rai Bachchan. Character played by Amitabh Bachchan ‘Vijay Dinanath Chauhan’ is still popular among people. Agneepath has grown a strong cult film over the years. He received National Film Award for the Best Actor for Agneepath. It was tenth highest-grosser of 1990, but was declared as a FLOP.
8. Hum (1991)
Hum gave Amitabh Bachchan National Filmfare Award for Best Actor. With Superstars like Amitabh Bachchan, Rajnikant and Govinda, Hum was declared as the blockbuster and was second among the top grosser of 1991. Song ‘Jumma Chumma De De’ is very popular song of the film.
9. Mohabbatein (2000)
Mohabbatein is notable for being the first time that Bachchan and Khan appeared on-screen together. Film was declared as the Blockbuster and Amitabh Bachchan received Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor. Mohabbatein was the second highest grosser of the year domestically, it was the highest-earning Hindi film of 2000 overseas. His character ‘Narayan Shankar’ became very popular.
10. Black (2005)
Black, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali gave Amitabh Bachchan his second National Film Award for Best Actor and fourth FilmFare Award for Best Actor. Indiatimes Movies ranks the movie amongst the 25 Must See Bollywood Films. Amitabh played a role of a teacher who was suffering from Alzheimer’s disease.
11. Paa (2009)
Paa is based on a rare genetic condition known as progeria and places emphasis on a father-son relationship. Amitabh and Abhishek, in real life, are father and son respectively, but in Paa, they played opposite roles. Amitabh received third National Film Award for Best Actor and fifth FilmFare Award for Best Actor.
12. Piku (2015)
Piku gave Amitabh Bachchan his fourth National Film Award for Best Actor and third FilmFare Critics Award for Best Actor. Piku was declared as Superhit Movie of the year 2015. His character ‘Bhaskor Banerjee’ was highly appreciated by the critics.
13. Pink (2016)
Pink, a courtroom drama released in 2016 and it has been considered as the most successful solo film for Amitabh Bachchan in recent times. Amitabh played a character of lawyer ‘Deepak Sehgal’. The film revolves around how Deepak fights and wins the girls’ case against the influential boys. Pink received very positive response from both the audience and critics.
